The lot was originally owned by Martin and Daisy Peterson.  Prior to Martin's death they had planned to build a little house and move back from Arizona.  Then Martin died, and since Daisy had not been from here she abandoned that idea.

When Daisy was dying and Mike Ohm and Ernestine Hiley were at her house  sorting and packing, Daisy was talking about the lot and decided to give it to the Museum.  At first the plan was to sell the lot and use the money toward the Museum, but the lot was really too small to build on so that idea was scrapped.

After several brainstorming sessions, the Memory Garden idea was finalized.  Mike knew that Gene and Jeanette Wendt had Bruce's memorial money that they wanted to do something with.  They were asked about it, and the Wendts liked the idea of the Memory Garden.  They had the gazebo built there in memory of their son Bruce.
